Laser Vision Correction that’s Truly Personalized

The Advanced CustomVue Procedure begins with an individual vision evaluation using our WaveScan System which creates a map of your eyes’ unique imperfections. The Advanced CustomVue Procedure uses the digital information from that map to design a custom treatment for each of your eyes. This WaveScan map information is then transferred to the STAR S4 IR Excimer Laser. The laser uses this information to apply a cool laser beam that reshapes your cornea to create a new curvature and correct your vision.

Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is a laser vision correction procedure used by ophthalmologists to permanently change the shape of the cornea to improve the way it focuses light on the retina. Without creating a flap in your cornea (the clear covering of the eye).

The PRK procedure takes about 15 minutes. Your eye is desensitized using numbing drops. The outer cell layer of the cornea, is removed by a small brush.  The cool beam of the treatment laser is used to permanently reshape the cornea to improve your vision.

Immediately following the procedure the eye is patched or a bandage contact lens is placed on the eye. After PRK, it can take several days to achieve clear vision. It may take a month or longer to achieve one's best vision. Patients may require eye drops for up to three months.
